You may not need to switch at all. testRigor integrates with TestMu AI, so a team that likes authoring in testRigor can run those tests on our real devices and browsers today through the testRigor integration.

Move to KaneAI when you also want code export, plans you approve before a run, or inputs beyond text. Stay on testRigor when your suite leans on Windows desktop, email, SMS or phone-call checks. To try authoring before you buy, Kane CLI runs from your terminal or coding agent and comes with 10,000 credits for 30 days.

Disclosure: TestMu AI sells KaneAI and also hosts testRigor runs through the integration, so we gain whichever you choose. testRigor's claims are quoted from its website as of 4 November 2026. For a wider shortlist of tools, see the testRigor alternative page.

Desktop, Email, SMS and Phone Tests: testRigor vs KaneAI

testRigor covers more channels than KaneAI. Its tests run on web, native and hybrid iOS and Android apps, native Windows desktop apps on paid plans, and API calls, plus email with attachments and deliverability checks, SMS and phone calls through Twilio, and 2FA by authenticator app, SMS or email. It also lists mainframe testing and testing of chatbots and AI output.

KaneAI covers web apps on 3,000+ browser and OS combinations and native apps and mobile web on 50,000+ real devices, plus API, database, network and accessibility steps and TOTP for 2FA. It doesn't test native Windows desktop apps, and email, SMS and phone-call steps aren't documented.

How testRigor and KaneAI Write Natural-Language Tests

testRigor describes its tests as "plain English" that testers write free-form. Its own example, "purchase a Kindle", expands into steps such as entering "Kindle" into "Search", and you refine them with testRigor's documented commands.

Existing manual test cases can be pasted or imported, and Claude Code can generate tests through testRigor's MCP and Skills. Its tests identify elements by what users see rather than by XPath, and testRigor claims "99.5% less test maintenance" than Selenium or Appium (vendor claim).

KaneAI starts one step earlier, from the artifact a tester already holds: a Jira ticket, a PRD as a PDF, a screenshot, an audio note or a video walkthrough. It proposes prioritized scenarios, and nothing runs until a person approves the plan.

Once approved, the test's steps run deterministically, in the order you approved them. When a button moves, Auto-Heal re-locates it during the run without changing the saved test; when an objective has to be rewritten, Adaptive Heal saves the rewrite as a new version that waits for your approval, as the KaneAI Auto-Heal docs describe.

Code Export and Exit Cost: testRigor vs KaneAI

testRigor's website doesn't describe exporting tests to Selenium, Playwright or other framework code. KaneAI exports Selenium, Playwright or Appium code, so if engineers want to extend a test or you change vendors, the test travels as code.

Exported or not, a KaneAI test runs on HyperExecute and the Real Device Cloud in the same TestMu AI account, with 100 HyperExecute minutes a month on Pro and 300 on Max.

Pricing and Free Access: KaneAI vs testRigor

Rebuild Your 10 Hardest testRigor Tests in KaneAI

Or keep testRigor and run it on 50,000+ real devices through the TestMu AI integration today.

Try KaneAI Now

Pick testRigor for Desktop, Email, SMS or a Free Plan

  1. 1.

    Native Windows Desktop Apps

testRigor tests native Windows apps on its paid plans. KaneAI doesn't test desktop apps.

  2. 2.

Email, SMS, Phone Calls and 2FA in One Suite

Email attachments, SMS and calls through Twilio, and 2FA by app, SMS or email all sit in the same English-language tests.

  3. 3.

    A Free-Forever Public Plan

Useful for open-source projects and demos where tests and results can be public; private suites need a paid plan.

  4. 4.

Years of Refinement in Free-Form English

Its English authoring is mature, and testRigor says 90,000+ companies rely on it for QA (vendor stated).

  5. 5.

    Mainframe, Chatbot and AI-Output Testing

testRigor lists mainframe testing and testing of chatbots and AI output among its channels; neither is listed for KaneAI.

Pick KaneAI for Code Export and Built-In Devices

KaneAI is the stronger choice when these matter more than desktop and messaging coverage.

  1. 1.

Tests as Selenium, Playwright or Appium Files

Engineers can open and extend an exported test, and the suite leaves with you if you change vendors.

  2. 2.

Real Devices From the Same Vendor as Authoring

Tests run on 3,000+ browser and OS combinations and 50,000+ real devices without a second contract.

  3. 3.

Tests That Start From Tickets, PDFs, Screenshots or Video

Testers hand KaneAI the artifact they already have, audio notes included, and get prioritized scenarios back.

  4. 4.

    A Person Approves Each Plan

KaneAI drafts the plan, a reviewer edits or approves it, and only then does the test run.

  5. 5.

    Published Prices

Paid plans from $17 per agent/month (annual), each with AI-native test case generation and a Test Manager seat per agent.
