Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to install any software or extension to use TestMu AI virtual machines?

No. You don't need to install any software, extension, or plugin. Log in to TestMu AI, open the virtual machine through the launcher, and start testing.

Are sessions running on real browsers or emulators?

All desktop sessions run on real browsers and operating systems on real machines. Mobile browser testing runs on both emulators/simulators and real devices.

Which operating systems, browsers, and browser versions are available for cross-browser testing?

There are 3000+ browsers, browser versions, operating systems, devices, and resolutions to choose from. See the full list of browsers.

Are operating systems 32-bit or 64-bit?

All supported operating systems on TestMu AI (Windows 10, Windows 11, and all macOS versions) run on 64-bit architecture.

Why does TestMu AI use Windows Server edition? Is it the same as Windows desktop?

Microsoft Windows Desktop Edition licenses do not support remote access. TestMu AI uses Windows Server with Desktop Experience, which provides the same look, feel, and browser access as a local Windows desktop machine. All browser versions are the same desktop editions you would find locally.

How long does it take to add a new browser version after it is released?

New stable browser versions are typically available on the platform within a week of release. Each version is tested internally before going live to ensure a consistent testing experience.

Which browser plugins (Flash, Silverlight, Java) are pre-installed?

Legacy plugins (Adobe Flash, Shockwave, Silverlight, and QuickTime) have reached end-of-life and are no longer supported by modern browsers. TestMu AI virtual machines run current browser versions in sandboxed environments. PDF viewing uses browsers' built-in viewers. Java is available in the testing VM for automation purposes.

How many simultaneous sessions can I run on one account?

The free plan allows one session at a time. Paid plans support multiple concurrent sessions depending on your subscription. See the Pricing page for details.

What happens when I leave a session idle?

If a Live session is idle for 5 minutes, TestMu AI prompts a reminder. If no action is taken, the session closes automatically. You can configure the idle timeout from the Live settings.

What happens when I switch to another browser tab?

Switching tabs does not stop or pause the Live session. If the session stays idle for 5 minutes or more, TestMu AI prompts a reminder and closes the session if unanswered.

Will the next user be able to see my history or saved passwords?

No. When you close a session, TestMu AI wipes the entire virtual machine: browsing history, downloads, installed extensions, saved passwords, and cookies are all deleted and browsers are reset to factory settings. Your screenshots and logged issues remain accessible from the dashboard.

Can I use keyboard shortcuts like copy and paste in remote sessions?

Yes, all keyboard shortcuts are available. If you are accessing a Windows VM from a Mac (or vice versa), use the equivalent OS-specific key. For example, use Ctrl instead of Cmd for copy-paste when accessing a Windows VM from macOS.

Can I upload and download files in the remote browser?

Yes. Upload limits: max 15 MB per file (images, video, and non-media), up to 5 files per session. Download limit: max 50 MB total per session. Uploaded files are retained for 30 days and then automatically deleted. See file upload and download limits for supported formats and platform compatibility.

Can I change browser settings in a session?

Yes, you have full access to all browser settings. However, settings reset to defaults when the session ends, so you need to re-configure them at the start of each new session.

Can I install browser extensions during a session?

Yes. You can install any browser extension from the browser's extension store during a Live session. Extensions are removed when the session ends and must be reinstalled in subsequent sessions.

Can I use browser DevTools (Elements, Console, Network) in a Live session?

Yes. Press F12 or right-click → Inspect in any session. Chrome, Edge, and Firefox expose full DevTools panels (Elements, Console, Network, Performance, and more) exactly as they appear on a local machine.

How do I take a screenshot during a Live session?

Click the camera icon in the left controller panel to capture a screenshot. An image editor opens where you can annotate, mark bugs, and add comments. Screenshots are saved in the test logs section of the dashboard.

How do I report a bug and share it with my team?

Use the Mark as Bug button during any live session to log the issue directly to your team's project management tool — Jira, Trello, Asana, GitHub, and 20+ other integrations are supported. The bug is created with session metadata, browser details, and a screenshot automatically attached.

I cannot hear audio in the virtual machine. What is happening?

Audio streaming is supported on Chrome and Firefox in desktop real-time sessions. Safari and mobile emulator sessions have limited audio support due to browser architecture constraints.

I am getting a "Session Limit reached" error but I am not running a session. Why?

The session limit applies to your entire organization, not to individual users. Other teammates may be using the available sessions. Coordinate with your team to check concurrent usage. If you believe there is a platform issue, raise a ticket at the support portal.

I am getting a "Parallel user limit reached" error. What does that mean?

TestMu AI limits concurrent sessions per organization based on your subscription plan. To increase the limit, upgrade your plan on the Pricing page or contact our sales team.

My IP is blocked. Why did this happen and how do I unblock it?

An IP can be blocked for several reasons:

  • The IP was flagged for excessive spam registrations.
  • The IP was flagged for violating TestMu AI terms of use or privacy policy.
  • The block was triggered automatically to protect the platform from spam or security threats.
If you believe your IP was blocked in error, raise a ticket at the support portal.
