Always Open: Engineering Trust & Quality in AI-Driven Commerce
Commerce never closes, and neither can quality. Retail platforms now run 24/7 across web, mobile, stores, and marketplaces, where a broken checkout or a mispriced SKU is instantly public and instantly costly. At the same time, AI is transforming both sides of the transaction: agents are writing and testing the code behind commerce platforms, while AI shopping assistants are beginning to browse, compare, and buy on behalf of customers. This panel brings together leaders across retail and commerce technology to discuss how they engineer trust into always-on experiences, what it takes to test personalized and non-deterministic journeys at peak scale, and how quality engineering evolves when your next customer, and your next engineer, might be an AI agent.
About the Panelists
Sunita McCoy:
Sunita McCoy is Director of Quality Engineering at Pizza Hut, where the SLA is a hungry family and the ultimate load test is Super Bowl Sunday. If the app works when America orders pizza all at once, her team did its job. Over 20+ years at Fortune 100 enterprises like Foot Locker, Advance Auto Parts, and MetLife, she's built global quality organizations of over 350 engineers supporting over 5000 stores and restaurants and turned AI testing from shiny demo into daily driver: 75% faster incident detection, 30% less manual test design, and self-healing automation that (mostly) behaves itself. But ask Sunita what she's proudest of, and it won't be the metrics. She's a passionate force multiplier who empowers people to uncover their best selves and unleash their superpowers - mentoring high-performing teams that run autonomously, deliver outcomes, and elevate the bottom line. A returning TestMu speaker and fierce advocate for women in tech and AI, Sunita believes the best quality engineers ask the questions nobody else will and that every great release, like every great pizza, comes down to what happens under heat.
Nipam Desai:
Nipam Desai is an Engineering Manager for Quality, Environment & Release at a leading global fashion retailer, where he leads enterprise Quality Engineering, Release Management, Environment Strategy, and Engineering Excellence initiatives. With more than 18 years of experience across retail, financial services, payments, and digital transformation, he has built and scaled Quality Engineering organisations, modernised testing practices, and delivered large-scale business-critical transformation programmes. Throughout his career, Nipam has progressed from leading global QA teams to heading enterprise Quality Assurance functions, with responsibility for quality strategy, automation, release governance, vendor management, and engineering transformation across globally distributed teams. He is currently driving an AI-Enabled Quality Engineering Accelerator, exploring AI-assisted software engineering, Vibe Coding, intelligent test automation, and engineering productivity to help development teams deliver software faster while improving quality and resilience. As a panellist, Nipam brings practical insights into how retailers can modernise Quality Engineering, embrace AI responsibly, and build high-performing engineering organisations that enable rapid, reliable digital delivery.
