Beyond Pixels: How We Used AI to Scale Visual Regression Testing at iFood
Scaling quality in a digital product used by millions of people is no simple feat. At iFood, distributed teams, multiple platforms, and constant interface changes turned visual regression testing into a real bottleneck: slow, costly, and hard to maintain.
The turning point came when we decided to stop comparing pixels and start comparing meaning. Using AI to semantically compare the reference design with the actual app interface, we built an approach that transformed the way we think about visual quality at scale.
But the biggest lesson was not technical: it was understanding that process and collaboration across Design, Product, Engineering, and Quality were just as decisive as the technology itself.
