How the Community Shaped TestMu AI: Jay Singh and Mudit Singh in Conversation

Co-founders Jay Singh and Mudit Singh on where the TestMu name came from, why lambda is followed by mu, and why the rebrand was an evolution rather than a reset.

Two days after the name change went live, co-founders Jay Singh, Chief Customer Officer, and Mudit Singh, Head of Growth, sat down together to talk about the part of the story that gets skipped: the name was not chosen in a branding exercise. It was already in use, by the community, for four years.

What follows is a transcript of that conversation, lightly cleaned for readability. This is a two-hander, and the video does not caption which co-founder is speaking at each moment, so the transcript below is presented as a single conversation rather than split by speaker.

One Company, Not Two

Worth saying up front, because it is the single most common confusion: TestMu AI and LambdaTest are not two different entities, and they are not competitors. They are the same company. LambdaTest took the name TestMu AI on January 12, 2026. LambdaTest, Inc. remains the legal entity, the signed agreements stay in force, and every account, API key, and test record carried over.

The full continuity breakdown lives on the TestMu AI vs LambdaTest page.

The Problem LambdaTest Was Built to Solve

“When LambdaTest began, the software world was in transition. Teams were ready for automation, but legacy infrastructure slowed everything down. LambdaTest began as an answer to that problem: a high performance unified quality cloud that made large scale testing fast, reliable, and essential for global teams.”

“Now, more than 2.8 million users from across 90 plus countries use our platforms to run more than 1.5 billion tests every year.”

From a Product to a Movement

“And then we didn’t just build a product. We built a movement that everyone, ranging from enterprises to startups, trusted at scale. But we did not stop there. We evolved and became an AI-native multi-agent platform for end-to-end quality engineering. It was not a feature update. It is in fact a radical innovation that made us global leaders in AI testing.”

Why Lambda Is Followed by Mu

This is the part of the naming logic that does not show up in the press release.

“And now, to signal this agentic future, we are now becoming TestMu AI. LambdaTest was the foundation. TestMu is the evolution. And just as lambda is followed by mu, LambdaTest now steps into the next era as TestMu AI.”

TestMu Was Never a New Name

“And TestMu is not a new name for us. For the past four years we have been running the TestMu conference, and you must have heard us a couple of times and a lot more on social media. And this is by the community and for the community, that even started the discussion on AI for quality engineering.”

“The brand TestMu already owns a legacy of an AI-driven future, and now by adopting this name we are signaling that community is now the core of the company. We are taking the spirit of that open, collaborative event and infusing it into the platform itself.”

The Default Cloud, Then the Default Quality Layer

“Absolutely. And TestMu AI, a name inspired by our flagship TestMu conference: a connected quality layer for AI-native teams, where autonomous agents partner with your team to keep every release reliable at any speed. We were already the default cloud for the cloud era, and now we are the default quality layer for the AI era.”

Asad Khan, Co-Founder and CEO, gives the wider version of the same story in A Message From Our CEO. For what the change meant contractually for enterprise teams, see Maneesh Sharma on trust and scale.
